We are FRENVI – the name stands for FRiendly ENVIronment and is a German-Indian greentech startup headquartered in Mannheim, Germany, focused on reducing plastic waste. At FRENVI, we replace conventional plastic cutlery with our edible EATlery® cutlery products made from natural ingredients. Moreover, we offer multi-use products made from sustainable biocomposites and crop residues under our REuse product line, as well as compostable products such as straws and plates under our COMPOSTware line.

Our novel and patented manufacturing process offers the possibility to produce several million units per production line of various tableware products. Due to the machine flexibility, even complex shapes made of bio-based materials can be produced without any problems. The result was “Continuous Thermo Compression 3D Forming” (CTC3DF), which initially transformed primary materials into environmentally friendly products, such as EATlery. We then came up with the idea of upcycling secondary materials using CTC3DF – currently the focus of our research activities. The goal: High scalability and lowest production costs for a bio-based circular economy.

FRENVI’s second production facility with a fully automated CTC3DF production line will be built in Germany by July 2025, more precisely in Mannheim. From 2025 onwards, the European market will then be supplied primarily with bio-based products, both edible and naturally compostable. The annual capacity of German production will be above a mid-9-digit volume.
